2. Principles of wounds treatment

• Apply MEBO early: it will get the best curative effects to apply MEBO immediately postburn or in 4 hours postburn.
• Apply MEBO in all phases of treatment: apply MEBO without intervals and should not change to other treatment method or drug.
• Do not use water, desiccant or any simulative disinfector to debride wounds.
• Generally apply MEBO with a thickness of 1 mm and redress every 3-4 hours. For special position and wounds, apply MEBO according to corresponding method.
• Follow 'Three No' principles to apply MEBO: no pain on wounds, no bleeding and no injury to living tissues.
• When apply MEBO, follow the direction of fine hair instead of the contrary direction, to avoid pain caused by spasm of arrectores pilorum.
• Prevent macerating wounds and avoid dryness and forming scab on wounds.
• For wounds deeper than II degree, pay attention to reserve the white semitransparent membrane contacting closely with wounds.

3. Healing process of wounds
The skin repair process can be divided into four phases. Wounds of different depth probably have partial or the whole phases.

• Early treatment phase (3-4 days postburn): this phase is corresponding to the time from immediate treatment postburn to the end of shock phase. The treatment is mainly protecting wounds, relieving pains and avoiding further injury.
• Liquefying of necrosis tissues phase: the character of this phase is the white or yellow liquefied tissues covering on wounds. The treatment is mainly about wiping off the liquefied tissues and redressing actively.
• Skin regeneration phase: in this phase, necrotic tissues has been liquefied and discharged. The basal of wound is exposed and the residual tissues begin to regenerate and rebuild normal tissue structure. The treatment in this phase focuses on reduce stimulation to wounds, prevent dryness or macerating, avoid pressure on wounds and keep wounds clean.
• Skin functions restoring phase: the basic structure of skin has been repaired. With the help of MEBO SCAReducer, scar formation can be prevented and the functions of skin can be restored.

4) Prognosis
Under the standardized treatment procedure of MEBO, the healing criterion is as follows:

• For burns below deep II degree, wounds can heal without scar.
• Superficial III degree wounds heal with no or superficial scar, but without functional disturbance.
