What is “Three Degree Six
Division” in the division of the depth of the burns wound and
what are their clinically defined boundaries?
The inventor of Moist
Exposed Burns Therapy- professor Rongxiang Xu divided the degree of the
skin heat injuries into “three degree six types”
scientifically, which is abbreviated as Three Degree Six Division.
After years, this kind of “Three Degree Six Division” is
used as the evaluation criteria for the classification of the burns
wound damage depth by Chinese Burn Association of the Integration of
Traditional and Western Medicine (CBAIM).
Three Degree Six Divisions includes:
first degree, superficial second degree, deep second degree superficial
type, deep second degree deep type, superficial third degree and deep
third degree.
First Degree: The layer above the granular cell layer of epidermis is injured.
Second Degree:
1. Superficial second degree: The layer above the basal cell layer of epidermis is injured.
2. Deep second degree superficial type: The papillary layer of dermis is injured.
3. Deep second degree deep type: The reticular layer of dermis is injured.
Third degree:
1. Superficial third degree: The full-thickness skin is injured and the injury reaches to thesuperficial layer of subcutaneous fatty tissue.
