What is the function
of the FIM in wound regenerative reparation?
As
a “semi-permeable" membrane, the special composition of the
fibrous isolation membrane enables its unique characteristics and
function.
It forms between wound surface and MEBO and allows an osmotic pressure
to form in both sides of the membrane; one side is hydrophilic (wound
tissue side) and the other side is lipophilic (MEBO side).
Exchanges of materials as ions are taking place, so that the metabolism
products of the wounds can be excreted outside of the membrane by
osmosis.
Through the same mechanism, the MEBO nutritive components and MEBO
components with biological activities can permeate into the deep layer
of the wounds and give full play of its physiological and
pharmacological effects to promote skin tissue regeneration and
reparation.
The whole process of burns wound regenerative reparation in situ is
accomplished under FIM protection and by standard application of
MEBT/MEBO.
The microcirculation in the deep layer of the wound could only be
regenerated as a physiological capillary tree frame under the
protection of the FIM, so that nutritive materials could be transferred
to the primitive skin blastemata and skin islands, which were
regenerated in situ by stem cells and afterwards developed and expanded
to heal the wounds.
